About
Located on the riverside of the pictureque village of Beddgelert at the foot of Yr Wyddfa | Snowdon, a land of legends and dragons! The village of Beddgelert offers plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. There are two reasonably priced public car parks within the village, the nearest just a few minutes walk from the guest house. Eryri | Snowdonia National park is also a 'Dark Skies Reserve' which provides a great opportunity for stargazing on a clear night.
Plas Tanygraig was built in 1851 and served initially as a private residence until around 1920 when it was finally converted to become a Beddgelert riverside hotel. Over the years, Plas Tan y Graig has hosted famous guests such as Sir Paul McCartney, when he visited Alfred Bestall the writer and illustrator of the Rupert the Bear stories to discuss the 100th birthday of Rupert the Bear and the upcoming animated music video 'We All Stand Together' from 'Rupert and The Frog Song'.
Plas Tan y Graig is also popular with adventurers seeking to ascend Yr Wyddfa | Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales. Nearby the calming waters of Llyn Dinas are just a short walk as well as the ancient hilltop remains of Dinas Emrys which legend tells us was the castle retreat of the warlord Vortigern during his famous exchange with the young Merlin!
